Living Well Together – Minding our Traditions 2023 and 2024

The Living Well Together project is designed to advance equity in mental health and community wellbeing in Stevenage.

Project aims:

  • to help improve the treatment, outcomes and experiences of people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities in Stevenage who have contact with mental health and wellbeing services
  • to help improve access to mental health and wellbeing services
  • to help Black, Adian and Minority Ethnic individuals and communities access appropriate support
  • to create and deliver a menu of community led intervention to enhance the mental and emotional wellbeing of the target group

What we did:

  • delivered a menu of culturally appropriate and supportive community led services. Living well courses; Drop-in sessions; One to One support; African drumming workshops; Creative Comment Trees workshops;
  • provided Information, Advice and Support to help our target groups access mainstream mental health and wellbeing services
  • worked with service providers to find better and more effective ways of engaging anc communicating with their local communities, and to develop culturally appropriate services
  • delivered training to service providers
  • recruited a pool of advocates and peer supporters
  • engaged with community by raising awareness events, community conversations
  • co-worked with service providers

Delivery partners:

We coordinated the project in conjunction with Stevenage Equalities Commission. We also delivered in partnerships with local community organisations and faith groups working closely with local service providers, namely Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
